Christmas Tree at the Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur
Holy Smoke it’s Christmas!
The Sheraton Hotel in Jalan Sultan Ismail is renowned for doing things just right, and the lighting of the Christmas tree in the foyer was no exception…
As most people in Kuala Lumpur understand, the thoughts of a snowy Christmas, tinkling bells and being huddled around the Yuletide fire are sometimes a little hard to match with the daily tropical downpours and sweltering heat. However, at this event the Sheraton Hotel managed to capture the spirit and magic of Christmas in their tree lighting ceremony.
The night began with a nice intro to some of the hotel staff followed by some Christmas Carols sung by some cute kids from the Lighthouse Children Welfare Home – the carols they chose were all sung very sweetly!
Soon after, with the sound of the carols still echoing, the Managing Director of the Sheraton KL, Chuck Abbot, triggered the lights of the tree in a spectacular display of light and smoke that must have brought the detectors in the foyer to within a hair of dialing the local Bomba. It was amazing! This tree must be around 8 meters high and is very tastefully decorated.
As soon as the tree lighting ceremony was complete, the Sheraton Staff weaved amongst the crowd like reindeer delivering tasty tidbits to the 80 or so guests present at the event. The Christmas treats included one of my favorites – tiny mince pies served together with eggnog - Yum.
The staff of the Sheraton showed their flawless ability to capture the true feeling of the festive season in this simple though memorable event.
